In this role as Cable Extrusion Expert, you would join our Innovation & Technology community at the Innovation Centre in Sweden. Our positive team spirit, close interaction & cooperation with key Energy stakeholders enables us to deliver step-change innovations. You would be part of a growing team and play a key role to lead, develop and optimize cable extrusion processes as well as building the link between our R&D pilot cable lines and upscaling at the customers for the final application. Your daily work could be a combination of pilot extrusion support, contribution in innovation and business support projects targeting development of novel polymers and polymer compounds within Energy applications where cable extrusion and design plays an important role.
You will be working in an international, cross-functional team, where you will be involved in aspects of product & application development. Which includes polymer design, small scale testing, cable extrusion & design, investments, upscaling, commercial production & application testing at our customers.
Your areas of responsibility would be to:
Lead, develop and optimize cable extrusion processes & design.
Develop new polymers and compounds within the Energy sector, linking your fundamental understanding of polymer material properties & its relationship to extrusion parameters.
Translate market requirements into polymer properties, and what it could mean in terms of cable design extrusion properties.
Build the link between our R&D pilot cable lines and upscaling at the customers for the final application
Establish continuous interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers in order to optimize development and utilization of own expertise.
Deliver scientific results by applying scientific principles, combining academic & cable industry knowledge, experimental results and common experiences.
Collaborate with laboratories and production plants including optimization of polymer compositions.
Initiate and support patenting of new polymers, products and processes.
Participate in standardisation bodies and certification where relevant.

About you
You are the right candidate for this position if you have experience from Cable Extrusion and/or cable manufacturing, and a deep understanding of polymer processing. You also have a MSc or PhD degree in relevant field (Mechanical, Polymer engineering/processing, chemistry, physics, material science or equivalent). You enjoy expanding your knowledge and bringing in new ideas, approaches or methods based on your broad experience in the cable industry. Your way of thinking is highly structured and analytical but also flexible when it comes to collaboration in projects or challenges in your daily work.

As a Chemist in the Mining team you will combine your knowledge within chemistry and mining with a customer focus. You will provide technical knowledge based on your own practical laboratory work to support customers together with sales. In addition you will also support trials at customers and perform laboratory work in mining projects.


In your future role as Researcher you will
Plan and perform experimental work, interpret and report results
Carry out technical service support after direct contact with sales organization or based on info from manager
Contribute to the preparation of project plans for defined projects, perform work in projects and write final reports
Take part in customer visits
Participate in development of new and improved applications
Be expected to carry out experiment and methods
Work with personal safety equipment and health and safety aspects in relation to the lab work and specially agreed equipment
Be responsible for maintenance, development and completion of agreed equipment in the laboratory

In your future role as Senior Researcher you will
Be part of the Analysis EMEA Team. You will perform chemical analyses for product and process development projects and solve complex analytical assignments. You will work with Wet Chemical Analysis and NMR spectroscopy and develop expertise in characterization of surfactants. As an expert in chemical analysis, you will work with the development of analytical methods and maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments.


Main responsibilities:
Run analytical experiments, interpret analytical data, and report and discuss the results.
Act as an expert in identification and quantification questions related to new product development, customer complaints, trouble shooting in production etc.
Develop expertise in Wet Chemistry and NMR spectroscopy and be updated with all techniques used in the group on a general level to ensure that the tasks are resolved using the best available techniques.
Take responsibility for development, implementation, and validation of analytical methods and for maintenance of analytical instruments.
Develop and maintain a good Surfactant Chemistry product know how.



We believe you bring
PhD/Licentiate in a relevant topic or a Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with several years of relevant experience.
Excellent skills in Wet Chemistry Analyses.
Experience in NMR spectroscopy.
Good knowledge and understanding of validation/statistics.
Experience with research and method development.
Excellent skills regarding equipment, maintenance & troubleshooting.
Good knowledge in organic chemistry.
Fluency in written and spoken English, Swedish in an advantage.



Great if you have
Experience in analysis of surfactants and determination of surfactant properties.
Good understanding of ISO 17025.

In this role, you will manage a variety of different I&T projects in the Polyolefin, Hydrocarbons or Catalyst area as well as in the strategically important field of Circular Economy.
Your tasks and responsibilities will be:
Define the project scope and objectives together with the Project Owner and support to prepare a business case
Responsible to deliver the project scope within time and budget
Planning and tracking the project within constraints such as time, cost and quality standards
Risk management and active follow up in projects, including implement mitigation actions
Effective stakeholder management with different functions within Borealis as well as external partners including facilitation of team and stakeholder meetings

About you
We are looking for a people oriented Project Manager with background in Chemistry or Engineering (university degree), knowledge of polymers/hydrocarbons and good commercial understanding. You should already have some years of professional Project Management experience in industry.
Your success in this role will highly depend on your ability to deal with a variety of topics, on your ability to guide and lead people and your strong drive to succeed.
You have an interest in the commercial, customer and value chain aspects, which play a major role in project work. You have an interest in intellectual property rights and understand the importance and how to protect inventions.
